The SCHAWE Edition Gold: One of one based on a Mercedes-Benz S580

Waltrop, July 2022: Do you have any idea how many individual parts the brand-new Mercedes-Benz S-Class (model 223) consists of? No? Then you're like us. But we're finding out right now; in a project that is almost certainly unique in the world. We are creating an S-Class as an exclusive SCHAWE Edition Gold in our SCHAWE factory in Waltrop. A unique piece in elegant black, with fine-tuned details made of the highest quality carbon, which harmonizes so wonderfully with the special gold polish we will give to some carefully selected interior and exterior parts. Not flashy, not ostentatious - much more elegant understatement.

All SCHAWE models that leave our manufactory are unique in their own way. And although we have really great experience with extensive Mercedes refinements, this project is also quite exciting for us and not a daily business. The S-Class (V8/4MATIC) is the newest model on the market and the complete disassembly is accordingly not routine. But it is necessary to achieve what we want: To create a worldwide unique Mercedes S-Class as SCHAWE Edition Gold, which meets the highest standards of quality and exclusivity. A limited one-off in a SCHAWE tailor-made suit, which guarantees its future owner a feeling of uniqueness.

We would not be SCHAWE if we compromised in the refinement process. All built-in parts that later give the vehicle its new identity are original Mercedes parts modified by us. Gold-plated door handles in the vehicle interior or gold-plated stitching that adorns the high-quality leather seats are such extravagant special productions that they would never be mass-produced ex works. That's a good thing, because it's precisely for these unusual customer requests that we are here. In a process of development over many years, we have found a way to really treat every single part of the vehicle in such a way that it can be reinstalled after our personalization. What does it take? Effort. A huge amount of effort. Which brings us back to the initial question: Because by now we have a rough idea of how many individual parts the new Mercedes S-Class actually consists of. There are a lot, an incredible number.

We have painstakingly dismantled most of this already beautiful luxury Mercedes by hand. All the seats are out, the center console, control units, monitors, door panels, refrigerator, steering wheel, air vents, door sills, roof paneling, business console, speakers. A sight that is almost frightening, so naked is the W223 now in our manufactory workshop.

And it's not just the large built-in parts that have been dismantled, but also the countless small switches, buttons, trims and covers that complete the large interior components. Really: this S-Class has more extensive details than almost any other Mercedes-Benz model. But that's also what makes it so exciting. With the new S580 (Chauffeur Package), we already have a masterpiece of engineering in our manufactory. We will fulfill the mandate to continue thinking about this masterpiece at the very highest level, to highlight it and turn it into an absolute one-off with the utmost sense of responsibility.

When working on the new S-Class, we naturally rely on our SCHAWE quality standards and on certain details that have already made our SCHAWE G-Class (G63 as the SCHAWE-Legend model) a unique G-Model with a wow effect: Powerful and elegant, with harmonious highlights and the highest quality materials, embedded in an uncompromisingly unique interior and exterior. Manufactured design made in Germany.
