Waltrop, February 2023: Mercedes fans have had to wait a long time for this upgrade, but now our development department has delivered again and launched a genuine world first for the Mercedes-Benz GLE of the current 167 model series. From now on, we can offer extended ambient lighting for the largest of the Mercedes SUVs for uncomplicated retrofitting. For this purpose, we have specially developed a new cable set that can be connected plug and play to the existing original wiring.
Ambient lighting fully controllable via Mercedes-Comand
The ambience light upgrade concerns the four louvered air vents located in the front cockpit. Of course, we have developed the SCHAWE retrofit kit in such a way that all Ambilight functions that are controlled via Comand or Radio MBUX are also adapted in their entirety to the extension. Including the partial color change with manual temperature control.
Successful development and marketing for the G-Class
With the extension of ambient lighting to the GLE's air vents, our manufacture is continuing down the path of pioneering work that we already successfully took with the Amilight extension to the G-Class. To date, we have retrofitted a large number of G models - including the G63 AMG, G500, G400d or G350d (type: 463A from model year 2018) - with LED air vent lighting.
Ambient lighting with 8 and 64 colors
In principle, the LED upgrade is possible on all newer Mercedes vehicles equipped with ambient lighting of 8 or 64 colors. Because 64 colors are required for the illuminated air vents, models with 8 colors must first be upgraded to 64 colors.
